Hi guys! Today I’m reviewing the TOZO Golden X1 – an impressive pair of premium Bluetooth earbuds that promise excellent sound quality and an active noise canceling system. The package also includes several silicone ear tips for a customized fit, along with a charging case that doubles as a power bank, allowing you to charge your earbuds on the go. And all of this is available for a limited-time deal of just $119 (price at the time of this review).
Design
The design of the Golden X1 is sleek and stylish, featuring an all-black charging case (I went with the black pair) and a highly reflective TOZO logo on each earbud.
There are some subtle gold inserts on the mesh behind the ear tips. This also adds a touch of elegance to the design.
In terms of size, these earbuds are compact enough to fit comfortably, even inside a motorcycle helmet.
A great feature of the TOZO Golden X1 is its IPX6 rating, meaning the earbuds can handle heavy exposure to water, such as sweat or rain, without any issues. Just keep in mind that they aren’t designed for full submersion in water, so avoid taking them for a swim.
Charging case
The charging case has a minimalist design, made from plastic, with a clamshell-style opening that flips upwards. As for features, it includes a subtle battery charge indicator for both the earbuds and the case’s integrated battery. There are also small indicators to show which earbud is left and right. And before you ask… no, you can’t place them in the case backward. They’ll always be properly aligned, left and right, in the casing.
The case can be charged either via the included USB Type-C cable or a wireless charging pad.
As for controls, each earbud has a touch-sensitive area where the TOZO logo is located. Double-tap the right earbud to skip to the next song, and double-tap the left earbud to go back. A single touch handles power and other functions. Overall, the touch controls work well and generally don’t miss taps or double taps.
Charging cable and accessories
Along with the earbuds, you get a charging cable that has a USB Type-A connector on one end and a USB Type-C on the other. This cable is used to charge the carrying case.
You also receive 5 pairs of silicone ear tips in various sizes. And that’s it for the accessories. You get everything you need, without any unnecessary extras.
Connection
The TOZO Golden X1 earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.3, which is also backward-compatible with all previous Bluetooth versions. Pairing is quick and easy with any reasonably modern phone, and while the earbuds don’t require the app to function, the app does offer some helpful features – but more on that later in the review.
Battery life
The battery life of the earbuds is around 6 to 7 hours when using the AAC codec. However, if you switch to the LDAC codec and turn the ANC feature on, the battery life drops to about 3.5 hours of continuous playtime.
As for performance, the Golden X1s are impressive, especially if compared to wired earbuds, which typically deliver better sound quality as they use wires to send the signal from the phone to the drivers. However, the TOZO Golden X1s perform like traditional wired earbuds, delivering sound that’s just as good – if not better.
Sound quality
The bass is good and doesn’t overpower the mid-range, and voices come through clearly with no issues or clipping. These earbuds have a balanced soundstage with a punchy mid-range. The lower frequencies can be a bit brighter than needed, but overall, the sound quality is great.
As for the microphone, the sound quality isn’t anything to write home about, but it’s good enough for conversations.
The app
The app that comes with the TOZO earbuds is well-designed and surprisingly well-made. A big plus is that you don’t need to register to use it.
Beyond that, the app offers plenty of features. You get quick access to all the available modes, and the noise-canceling system is impressive.
Conclusion
I’ve been using the TOZO Golden X1 for almost a week now, especially at the gym, and they’ve performed just great. They work well, canceling much of the background noise. What stands out, though, is the sound quality. Unlike many earbuds that overdo the bass, the TOZO Golden X1 keeps it at a normal level, letting the mid and low frequencies shine with crystal clarity.
The TOZO Golden X1 earbuds are a perfect choice for anyone seeking great sound quality, long battery life, reliable Bluetooth connection, and a well-designed, functional app.
