EarFun Air Pro 4 – Amazing Full Featured LDAC ANC Earbuds

EarFun Air Pro 4 - Amazing Full Featured LDAC ANC Earbuds

I do like EarFun because they tend to offer a lot for the price point, with more features than the competition, very good sound quality, and excellent overall product quality. The EarFun Air Pro 4 model is no exception. These are active noise-cancelling in-ear headphones that boast up to 50 decibels of noise reduction. They support a wide array of codecs, including LDAC, which not all competitors offer, making them high-res wireless certified.

The Air Pro 4s also come with Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless audio support, which is impressive. On top of that, they feature LE Audio and AuraCast support. Really good stuff.

EarFun Air Pro 4: case

EarFun Air Pro 4 case

The case supports wireless charging, giving you an additional 41 hours of playback, combined with 11 hours from the earbuds themselves on a single charge. That’s using the aptX Adaptive codec – not LDAC – but the runtime is still excellent.

The earbuds come with an IPX5 water resistance rating, making them suitable for workouts and light water exposure. They also feature a fully functional app, which I’ll dive into later in this review.

What’s in the box

Air Pro 4s

Inside the box, you’ll find a cleaning tool, instructions for cleaning the mesh and contacts, a user manual, and of course, the earbuds. They also include a generous selection of ear tips. Medium tips are pre-installed, but you’ll find several other sizes neatly laid out for achieving the best possible seal, which is crucial for optimal noise cancellation and sound quality. A USB Type-A to Type-C cable is also included.

Design and build

design and build

The earbuds are lightweight, weighing just 5 grams each, while the case adds a total travel weight of 55 grams. The case itself is compact and features status LEDs for battery life and internal LEDs for positioning the earbuds, which are held securely by magnets. There’s no annoying rattling when you shake the case – always a plus.

You’ll also find clear left and right indicators, a reset button, and a USB-C charging port on the back. The case supports Qi-standard wireless charging and takes about two hours for a full charge. A quick 10-minute charge gives you two hours of playback.

Battery life

battery life

Altogether, the earbuds and case provide a total of 52 hours of battery life – 11 hours from the earbuds and 41 from the case. This makes them an excellent choice for long trips.

Audio and noise cancellation

The Air Pro 4s use 10mm composite drivers, delivering impressive bass without distortion. With six microphones and an AI noise cancellation algorithm, the earbuds handle calls well while also reducing ambient noise effectively.

Noise cancellation works impressively, especially in noisy environments like airplanes. I tested this on a long-haul flight and found it significantly reduced cabin noise, especially when using the strong ANC mode. Additional settings like balanced, AI environmental adaptive ANC, and wind noise reduction further enhance your listening experience.

Features and functionality

EarFun Air Pro 4- enjoyable listening experience

These earbuds are packed with features, including:

  • Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless support
  • LE Audio and AuraCast compatibility
  • Capacitive touch controls
  • Game mode for low latency

The capacitive touch controls allow for playback and volume adjustments, but they can be hit or miss, working around 80% of the time. While I appreciate the functionality, I would have preferred physical buttons for more consistent performance.

EarFun Air Pro 4: app experience

EarFun Air Pro 4 app

The EarFun app offers a wealth of customization options, including equalizer presets, customizable controls, and firmware updates. Recently, I applied a firmware update that added ambient sound modes, enhancing the overall experience.

The app also provides options for dual-device connections and codec adjustments. However, LDAC users should note that enabling this codec reduces runtime to about 5.5 hours, compared to 11 hours with aptX Adaptive.

Comfort and fit

With a secure stem design and multiple ear tip options, the Air Pro 4s fit comfortably and securely. They didn’t fall out during my jogs, and the silicone tips were easy to swap for achieving the best seal.

Microphone performance

great earbuds

Each earbud is equipped with three microphones, totaling six. While the microphones effectively cancel background noise during calls, they can make voices sound slightly muffled. Call quality is adequate but could be clearer.

EarFun Air Pro 4: sound quality

The sound profile strikes a great balance, with punchy bass, detailed highs, and well-rounded mids. Whether listening to bass-heavy tracks or more vocal-focused genres, the Air Pro 4s deliver excellent sound without distortion.

Latency and connectivity

amazing ANC pair

In gaming mode, latency is barely noticeable, even when streaming content on platforms like Netflix. The Bluetooth 5.4 connection is reliable, and the earbuds pair quickly when you open the case. However, using LDAC slightly reduces the range compared to aptX codecs.

Final thoughts on the EarFun Air Pro 4

The EarFun Air Pro 4 earbuds tick almost every box: exceptional sound quality, excellent noise cancellation, long battery life, and a host of features like aptX support, LDAC, and a customizable app. While the capacitive touch controls and microphone clarity could use improvement, these are minor drawbacks in an otherwise stellar package.

For their price point, the Air Pro 4s offer remarkable value, making them a solid recommendation for anyone looking for feature-packed earbuds.
