Hey guys! In this post, I will review the best headphones for ASMR listening.
I’m sure many of you got the Beats Solo 3, the Beats Studio Pro, or something like that. These headphones are sure interesting. You can use them both wirelessly and wiredly. And they’re comfortable and stylish. But what’s the problem? They’re bass-heavy. And the treble isn’t very clear: it can sound muddled, almost like you’re underwater. So, I don’t recommend using Beats in this particular case. They’re just not the best headphones for ASMR listening.
Best headphones for ASMR listening
I use the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm) headphones, and for me, these are the best headphones for ASMR listening. You’ll also need an amp because they’re 250 Ohms, so they require a bit more power to drive. Since they’re open-back, they’re great if you want to hear your surroundings. For example, if you’re listening to ASMR and want it to blend with environmental sounds – like an air conditioner or other background noises – the DT 990 Pro can make that part of your experience.
The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm) headphones are extremely transparent, with bright, clear articulation, allowing you to hear all the little details – saliva sounds, mouth sounds, and all those subtle ASMR nuances. They offer a warm, bassy sound with a wide soundstage, imaging like studio monitors. They sound lifelike. While they do lack a bit of sub-bass rumble (being open-back, they can’t trap that deep bass), there’s still some sub-bass present.
Best earbuds for ASMR listening
Did you know that earbuds can actually sound better than headphones? Yeah, it’s true. And there’s a great selection of earbuds perfect for ASMR listening.
Linsoul SIMGOT EM6L
One of my favorite earbuds for ASMR listening is the Linsoul SIMGOT EM6L. They reproduce sound exceptionally well, though the high treble starts to taper off slightly. This creates a bit of a dampened effect, as if the high frequencies are being absorbed into the walls, making the sound feel more contained.
When someone whispers into your ears, it won’t sound exactly as it should, but these earbuds image like studio monitors in a room. They deliver a warm, bass-heavy sound with plenty of sub-bass, a wide soundstage, and diffuse-field level treble.
Linsoul SIMGOT EA500 LM
I’d also recommend another model by Linsoul – the SIMGOT EA500 LM. They’re bright and shimmery, kind of like the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, but in a fun earbud form. The EA500 LM earbuds are made out of metal and have a similar sound signature to the EM6L, but they’re a bit more present and brighter. They sound closer to you and are highly articulate, really bringing out those bright saliva and mouth sounds. You’ll get a touch of extra hi-fi sound with these compared to the EM6Ls, which image more like studio monitors in a room.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for the best headphones for ASMR listening, there are 3 (IMHO) standout options.
The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pros are great for clarity and transparency. They are perfect for picking up those small ASMR details, though you’ll need an amp to drive them.
For earbuds, the Linsoul SIMGOT EM6Ls deliver a warm, bassy sound with a wide soundstage, making them great for immersive listening.
Finally, the Linsoul SIMGOT EA500 LMs offer an even brighter and more present sound.
