Hi guys, and welcome back to my blog! Today, I’m reviewing one of the best earbuds for side sleepers – the Anker Soundcore Sleep A20. These earbuds are specifically designed to wear while you sleep.
I’ve had the first generation of these and slept in them for a while. I really loved them. My wife likes to watch TV, but I’d rather listen to music, podcasts, and the like. Recently, I switched to the Anker brand, and now I’ve picked up the new upgraded version.
First look: case and earbuds
Let’s take a look at the device itself, starting with the case. It has a clamshell design and runs on USB-C, which is really nice. The earbuds are magnetically held in place – a great little locking feature.
Now, the earbuds themselves aren’t very big at all. They have rubber tips on the front and back that lock them into your ear, and they come in different sizes, which is great. You can find the size that fits you best, and I really like that.
Once they’re in, they sit flush with your ear. The small rubber piece on the back helps lock them in place. During my sleep, I haven’t had any issues with them falling out, unlike the older model, which occasionally would go missing. These feel much more secure.
Battery life: all-night use
The battery life is advertised at 14 hours at about 50% volume. If you go lower, it lasts even longer. I keep the volume as low as possible because I just want background noise, not loud sounds that could hurt my ears.
Battery life has never been a problem with these. You also get about 80 hours with the case before you need to recharge it, allowing for multiple recharges of the earbuds.
Audio quality: perfect for quiet nights
The sound volume is lower than standard wireless earbuds, but the audio quality is very good – sharp and clear. These aren’t designed to be loud speakers. They’re small and focused on subtle, good-quality audio.
As someone who listens to podcasts, music, and YouTube videos, I found the audio quality excellent. I’m not an audiophile, but for my use, it’s been very satisfying. The max volume is lower than other high-end Anker earbuds, but for quiet, nighttime environments, this isn’t an issue.
In fact, I like the lower volume. With my old headphones (a sleep mask with built-in speakers), even the lowest volume felt too loud. With the Anker Soundcore Sleep A20, I can find the perfect volume level.
Comfort and fit for side sleepers
These earbuds are very comfortable for side sleepers. They fit snugly and don’t protrude, so you can sleep on your side or back without discomfort. The adjustable ear tips are a nice touch, allowing you to customize the fit to your liking.
Final thoughts on the best earbuds for side sleepers
Overall, I’m really happy with the Anker Soundcore Sleep A20. The battery life is excellent, the build quality is solid, and the audio quality is perfect for nighttime use. While they don’t have noise cancellation, the snug fit helps block out some external noise.
If you’re like me and want earbuds to use in bed, these are fantastic. However, if you need earbuds for loud environments like trains, airplanes, or busy streets, they might not be the best choice.
